I had the amazing opportunity to teach my very own modern calligraphy class at my mom’s scrapbook store, Pages in Time, last month! My calligraphy journey all started last Spring. I knew I wanted to use calligraphy to address our wedding invitations and I had been eager to learn for years, but I had tried over and over again with kits from Michael’s and AC Moore and was never able to get the flow of it! I even tried watching YouTube videos to learn, but I still was just not able to write how I wanted to. After taking a calligraphy class in person, I was able to learn how to hold the pen the proper way and how to correctly apply pressure to get the thicker downstroke that makes calligraphy so pretty compared to other writing. Since writing our invitations, I have had fun continuing this little “hobby” of mine in other crafty areas! There is just something to be said about dipping your pen in ink and writing the “old-fashioned” way…
